Overview

The Sr. Director Business Development is responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, targeting biotech and biopharmaceutical companies in need of sample testing and CDx development for their drug candidates. This role leads the deal process from the first contact with potential partners to the execution of agreements and identifying potential business development opportunities based on Myriad's Biopharma strategic plan.

Responsibility
  1. Documenting and delivering an aligned BD strategy for Emerging Products business. This includes making recommendations about potential deal structures that take into account the business realities.
  2. Work independently with the local functions such as the business unit, marketing and finance to evaluate the deal structure and terms. This includes engaging the BD function to ensure alignment, approval and support is achieved for the key deals.
  3. Manage a consistent and continuous pipeline cadence with our strategic partners.
  4. Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with our strategic partners' senior level management, sales, channel, technical and marketing personnel.
  5. Work closely with marketing to develop, coordinate and implement high return, joint go-to-market programs including support of clinical development plans.
  6. Provide project management support to Myriad technical initiatives.
  7. Drive new strategic initiatives based on future roadmap alignment, working closely with our strategic partner's corporate executive team.
  8. Exercise cross-functional participation across Myriad to support achievement of joint partner goals and objectives.
  9. Be accountable to develop term sheets and conduct negotiations with potential partners.
  10. Provide deal leadership & coordinate the due diligence effort and develop final report.
  11. Work with legal and other team members to conduct final contract negotiations.
  12. Ensure contract compliance to all relevant Myriad policies around quality, ethics and compliance.
  13. Independently develop novel strategic initiatives that expand and complement Emerging Products processes and objectives.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's Degree is required; An MBA, PhD or related technical and/or clinical graduate studies is preferred.
  2. 10+ years of related work experience is required. Experience in either business development, M&A (mergers and acquisitions) and/or transactional/licensing experience are required.
  3. Ability to lead cross-functional project teams is required. A strong orientation of scientific concepts is preferred.
  4. Strong network of contacts within the biotech and biopharmaceutical community is a plus.
  5. In depth understanding of drug discovery and development process.
  6. Excellent communication and presentation skills are required, as well as excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
  7. Ability to analyze markets, value new products, technologies and companies, and develop growth strategies is preferred.
  8. This position may be remote to Salt Lake City Headquarters and may require 30% domestic and international travel.
  9. Applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder)
