Application Window Open date: December 2, 2025 Next review date: Thursday, Jan 1, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Wednesday, Jun 2, 2027 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description Assistant/Associate Professor of Surgery - Colorectal Surgeon The Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking outstanding candidates for a full-time academic surgeon with an exemplary record of patient care to join our nationally recognized Section of Colorectal Surgery. Candidates must be board certified by the American Board of General Surgery and board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Applicants must have completed or will complete by the time of hire, a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery. Applicants' materials must list qualifications upon submission. Qualified applicants should have experience in colonoscopy, advanced laparoscopic procedures, and robotic surgery. Candidates with experience in clinical trials and health services research are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will demonstrate an aptitude for providing evidence based, high quality care in clinical teams that enhance the patient experience with a commitment to patient safety and satisfaction Candidates will be expected to take call for the colorectal service and provide consultation or assume care for colorectal patients seen by the acute care surgery service. This position will be primarily located at Mission Bay and Parnassus campuses of UCSF with endoscopy performed at outpatient centers. Candidates must have recognized skills in the education of surgery residents and medical students and will be expected to be active participants in the Department's and Division's training programs, as well as to the education of medical students. Additionally, candidates are expected to participate in University service, faculty meetings, monthly Grand Rounds and M&M conferences; contribute to quality assurance programs and continuing education; and advance the mission of the Section and Division of Surgical Oncology. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $154,700 - $240,500. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
