What to Expect
We seek a highly motivated hands-on engineering technician in the Low Voltage Test Automation group, a team focused on creating robust, data-centric equipment for Tesla's vehicle and robotic electronics. Our work spans the full product life cycle, from early engineering validation to high-volume production, and we are known across the company for tackling tough problems head-on and getting it done.
This team moves fast. Projects can go from idea to deployed test equipment in just weeks, supporting products on the cutting edge of Tesla's innovation. The pace is demanding, and priorities can shift quickly, but that's what makes the work exciting and impactful. As the team grows, we are looking for an engineering technician who not only enjoy tinkering and building but also want to bring clarity and structure to how we operate.

You'll have the chance to work on real systems, see them in production, and directly shape how the team scales. Superior work is noticed, responsibility is high, and the impact is immediate. This is your opportunity to be part of the "machine that builds the machine" at Tesla's global manufacturing headquarters in Austin, Texas.
What You'll Do
Build and modify wire harnesses, solder components, assemble aluminum-extrusion fixtures, integrate power supplies, and rework machined parts as required Produce maintenance documentation and training materials to support ongoing operation of deployed equipment Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and software issues on test equipment using first-principles reasoning, escalating effectively when additional support or context is needed Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and circuit designs using EPLAN and Altium Design and document mechanical assemblies ranging from precision mechanisms to large, complex systems using SolidWorks and CATIA Use Python to interface with test equipment and improve debugging, alerting, and long-term reliability of test systems Maintain, organize, and continuously improve the team's lab space to meet evolving operational needs
What You'll Bring
Previous hands-on experience with low voltage systems, wire harnesses, mechanical components, electro-mechanical devices Experience in supervising manufacturing equipment deployment and FAT/SAT Exposure to diverse test systems, industrial equipment (pogo-pins, industrial sensors, PLCs, pneumatics, microcontrollers, etc.) Highly motivated, detail oriented, and willing to learn on the job 2 year technical/automotive degree preferred Command of English language, both written and verbal Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%
