What you'll be doing:
Responsible for the efficient day-to-day operation of the transshipping with emphasis on managing transshipping personnel and the implementation of transshipping action plans.
Essential Functions:
- Oversees the preparation of the transshipping for order picking operations including stocking, packing container preparation and general housekeeping.
- Ensures compliance with internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and contractually defined requirements.
- Supports the Warehouse Manager with achieving departmental goals.
- Plan workflow and team member schedules.
- Ensures all merchandise and shipping containers are restocked for order selection staff.
- Ensures that all material handling equipment is serviced and in proper operating condition.
- Ensures routine maintenance and operation of package screening (x-ray) and package processing systems.
- Routine verification and reconciliation of perpetual inventory records versus physical assets.
- Collaborate with supervisor and team to improve production output and service quality.
- Conducts routine safety training and ensures compliance with safety standards.
- Trains and supervises team members, promoting professional development and an engaged workplace.
- Manages the attendance program for assigned shift.
- Ensures efficient operations within warehouse, for assigned shift.
- Coaches, counsels, assesses, and documents performance of hourly transshipping personnel.
- Engages with customers daily and attends internal/external customer meetings.
- Maintains a professional and courteous relationship with customers and ensures that all personnel do the same.
Perform other related work as assigned.
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
- Associate degree in a Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or Industrial Management. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Three to five (3 - 5) years of previous hands-on management experience in a fast paced, just-in-time (JIT) distribution or manufacturing environment.
- Supervisory experience required.
- Production shift experience with working knowledge of all warehouse activities.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, HAZMAT, FDA regulations and the willingness to become certified in one or more of these areas as necessary
- Experience operating forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Ability to operate and succeed in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to learn and maintain thorough knowledge of ISO standards and clauses.
- Thorough knowledge of a computerized warehouse management system.
- Ability to obtain and maintain federal clearances.
- Must possess excellent time management and organizational skills. Must have attention to detail.
- Microsoft Office suite proficiency; AS400 experience a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Clean MVR and driving record.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule.
