Summary

Manage the processes used for the effective operation of all reinsurance programs for Northwestern Mutual and Northwestern Long Term Care. Responsible for identifying the need for change, designing the appropriate change, and implementing the appropriate change in response to new conditions, whether they be driven by internal or external stimuli. Proactively manage the administration relationship with the Company's various reinsurers to achieve the desired financial results in the most effective way.

This new role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and implement a robust reinsurance processing system tailored for annuities and continue responsibility for annuity reinsurance operations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage existing work processes to result in the timely and accurate execution of reinsurance transactions. Timeliness and accuracy must be achieved on both new business as well as existing business. Identifies all situations that may hinder administration and takes proactive corrective measures, thereby maintaining Northwestern's reputation as a reliable reinsurance partner.
  • Manage existing work processes to result in compliance with all treaty terms, accounting conventions, and State as well as Federal regulation.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement solutions to address changing reinsurance requirements.
  • Plan and implement new reinsurance processes to accommodate changes in the Company's products.
  • Participate in internal and external audits of the reinsurance processes. Identify and implement improvement opportunities resulting from such audits. Execute any remedial actions resulting from such audits.
  • Manage existing work processes to provide for the timely and accurate reporting of all reinsurance activities.
  • Coordinate systems development projects that involve vendors (e.g. TAI system), internal systems staff, and other business areas within Northwestern.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, mathematics, or equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible work experience.
  • Minimum of 9 years of reinsurance and insurance product experience, with emphasis in annuity processing.
  • Experience with reinsurance programs similar to those used by the Company.
  • Strategic thinker with exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Superior analytical and decision-making skills, and the ability to design and articulate the solutions to business problems.
  • Ability to analyze datasets and translate findings into actionable insights. Strong skills in identifying trends, patterns, and anomalies within data.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and coordinate the work of others.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to be proactive.
  • Excels in leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong management skills including project management, delegation, and negotiation skills.
  • Flexibility, ability to manage multiple priorities and the ability to handle ambiguity.
  • Proven decision-making skills with the ability and desire to innovate and implement change.
  • High degree of personal imitative and self-motivation.

Structure 110:

$76,720.00 USD - $142,480.00 USD

Structure 115:

$80,150.00 USD - $148,850.00 USD
