Overview
Join Alliance Cancer Specialists, a leading oncology practice committed to excellence in patient care. We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician with IV admixture skills to support our licensed pharmacy team in preparing and managing medications for cancer patients. This role will be located at our Horsham Pratice.
Scope of Role
Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, you will perform technical, nonjudgmental aspects of medication preparation, distribution, record keeping, and inventory control. Tasks are verified by a registered nurse or pharmacist. Compliance with state laws and US Oncology standards is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under pharmacist supervision.
- Verify patient information, physician authorization, and insurance approval.
- Accurately calculate dosage volumes and conversions.
- Admix drugs per physician orders following OSHA and internal guidelines.
- Maintain indigent patient drug programs and controlled substance records.
- Dispose of materials safely and clean hoods per policy.
- Log and date all drugs; perform monthly quality checks.
- Maintain temperature logs and documentation for protocol and assistance drugs.
- Ensure proper control documentation, including lot numbers.
- Manage inventory, receive and shelve medications, and prepare labels.
- Perform data entry for pharmacy and admixture systems.
- Support billing and compliance with US Oncology Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of pharmacy experience with IV skills required.
- IV certification preferred.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or state requirement recommended.
Physical Demands
- Full range of body motion, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Ability to sit/stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Corrected vision and hearing required.
