Overview

We can't do it without YOU!

Do you want to apply your experience, skills, and education in a way that makes a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of our patients and their families? At Tennessee Cancer Specialists, it is the privilege of our employees to walk with our patients and their families as they move along the journey of fighting cancer. Whether you are working directly with patients in one of our clinics or in a support role, you are an important part of our mission to deliver the highest quality, compassionate care. Our 200+ employees make up the teams at our 15 different East Tennessee locations.

As a Research Assistant, you will support our clinical research team by maintaining accurate patient data, assisting with scheduling and procedures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards-so they can focus on advancing cancer care through innovative clinical trials.

Responsibilities

Here's what might happen on a typical day...

  • Enter patient data into research databases and generate reports to track progress.
  • Collect and organize patient information from initial contact through long-term follow-up.
  • Prepare records for audits and maintain compliance with research protocols.
  • Assist with scheduling consultations, diagnostic tests, and future appointments.
  • Occasionally support direct patient care, including vital signs and specimen collection.

Why this role matters-and how you can grow

This is more than a data entry position. As our clinical trial program expands, this role offers significant opportunities for professional growth. You'll gain hands-on experience in oncology research, learn the regulatory and operational aspects of clinical trials, and have the chance to advance into higher level roles.

Experiences that matter...

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients and clinical staff.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office and database systems.

Qualifications

For your safety, keep this in mind:

This position involves prolonged computer work, occasional bending and lifting up to 30 pounds, and working in a clinical environment with potential exposure to typical medical office conditions.

We feel this position requires these basics:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a medical office setting is highly preferred, and oncology experience would be a major plus!
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office is a must; database experience is a plus.
