JOB TITLE Instructional Designer II JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Instructional Designer II supports high-quality teaching and learning by designing engaging, accessible courses and managing the institution's learning management system (LMS) environment. This role collaborates with faculty and staff to develop effective online, and face-to-face learning experiences, aligning with best practices in instructional design. Additionally, the position oversees Canvas administration, including course creation, user management, troubleshooting, and system configuration, ensuring the LMS runs efficiently and meets instructional needs. The Instructional Designer also develops and delivers training for faculty on course design, effective online teaching strategies, and Canvas tools to enhance student success.
This position often works on multiple projects concurrently and must be able to create project plans and deliver timely results. JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities:

Learning Management:

  • Supports management of the institutional LMS (Canvas), plugins (Turnitin, Lockdown Browser, etc.), LTI integrations, and SIS integrations-coordinating, when necessary, with Technology Services staff to ensure reliable service delivery.

  • Provides support for faculty, staff, and students using the LMS and related instructional technology tools.

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of quality standards for course design.

  • Supports operations and programming for the SIM Lab.

Instructional Design:

  • Collaborate with faculty to design and develop engaging, accessible online and face-to-face courses aligned with learning outcomes.

  • Review and revise courses for quality, accessibility (ADA/Section 508), and alignment with institutional and accreditation standards.

  • Create and maintain templates, guides, and resources to support course development and instructional quality.

  • Consult with faculty on best practices in teaching strategies, active learning, and assessment techniques.

  • Research and recommend emerging instructional technologies and practices to enhance teaching and learning.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of institutional initiatives related to online education.

Training:

  • Designs, implements, and delivers training sessions using a variety of technologies and modalities.

  • Evaluates the effectiveness of training materials to ensure objectives are accomplished.

Other:

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional development, online learning, course development, educational technology, or a related field

  • Three (3) years' relevant experience.

  • In lieu of a degree, any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in instructional design, online learning, course development, educational technology, or a related field,

  • Two (2) years of experience providing instructional design or educational technology development services

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW:

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

  • This position requires a criminal background check, which may include a Level II screening as required by Florida Statute *435.04.

  • This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: This position is salary exempt. The normal work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; however, occasional overtime (weekends and evenings) may be required.

TARGET HIRING SALARY: $59,000 - $63,000, commensurate with experience.
