JOB TITLE Instructional Technology Program Director JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Instructional Technology Program Director holds responsibility for ensuring access to the Simulation, Instruction, and Media (SIM) Laboratory and support of quality course delivery via the University's Learning Management System. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
*Assisting faculty and staff on the development and conversion of courses, and institutional-training programs to online (either fully or online support of face-to-face courses); provide assistance for technology-assisted course delivery options.
*Develop resources and professional support for online/hybrid courses, web-based training, and face-to-face training curricula.
*Provides access, direction, and support to university instruction and co-curricular programs and learning via a full-service multi-media and simulation laboratory
This position often works on multiple projects concurrently and must be able to create project plans and deliver timely results. JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities:

Learning Management Administration:

  • Manages the institutional learning management environment (Canvas), plugins (Respondus, Turnitin, etc.), LTI integrations, and SIS integrations-coordinating, when necessary, with Technology Services staff to ensure reliable service delivery.

  • Directs instructional technology training and support for faculty, staff, and students using the institutional learning management environment and SIM Lab.

  • Collaborates with stakeholders to conduct needs assessments and recommend solutions related to the institutional learning management environment and the SIM Lab.

Instructional Design:

  • Collaborate with faculty to design and develop engaging, accessible online, and face-to-face courses aligned with learning outcomes.

  • Review and revise courses for quality, accessibility (ADA/Section 508), and alignment with institutional and accreditation standards.

  • Create and maintain templates, guides, and resources to support course development and instructional quality.

  • Consult with faculty on best practices in teaching strategies, active learning, and assessment techniques.

  • Research and recommend emerging instructional technologies and practices to enhance teaching and learning.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of institutional initiatives related to online education.

SIM Lab Management:

  • Manages the Simulation, Instruction, and Media Lab (SIM) within the model developed by the VPAA including hiring and managing employees, programming, and usage-value analysis. Ensures that Academic Mission needs for laboratory usage (i.e. Computer Science labs and projects) are appropriately supported.

  • Maintains, manages, and tracks all inventory and equipment; ensures its ongoing condition; plan for maintenance, upgrade, and ongoing costs and work with supervisor in advance to keep apprised of budgetary status.

  • Investigates, develops, and performs necessary work in the design (or re-design), installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment and software.

  • Evaluates vendor proposals for new equipment purchases.

Training:

  • Seeks out, evaluates, and recommends emerging technologies that have potential value for teaching and learning, and training.

  • Designs, implements, and delivers training sessions using a variety of technologies and modalities.

  • Participates in the development and implementation of instructional technology and software solutions for academic and administrative programs, departments, or initiatives.

  • Evaluates the effectiveness of training materials to ensure objectives are accomplished.

Other:

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in educational technology, or a related field

  • Five (5) years' relevant experience

  • In lieu of a degree, any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in educational technology or a related field (including a STEM field)

  • Three (3) years' experience providing educational technology development services.

  • Instructional experience at the University level.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW:

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

  • This position requires a criminal background check, which may include a Level II screening as required by Florida Statute *435.04.

  • This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: This position is salary exempt. The normal work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; however, occasional overtime (weekends and evenings) may be required.

TARGET HIRING SALARY: $72,300 - $74,000, commensurate with experience.
