Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Audio Visual (AV) Technician to support the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of commercial AV systems for large-scale infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with AV hardware, low-voltage cabling, and control systems such as Crestron and Extron. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and professionally on job sites.

Job Responsibilities

  • Install audio/video control systems (Crestron, Extron), projectors, displays, speakers, amplifiers, and sound masking systems.
  • Mount AV hardware on various wall and ceiling types for projectors, displays, speakers, and wireless microphones.
  • Install and terminate AV low-voltage cabling (18/2, Coax, CAT5/E, CAT6).
  • Terminate RG6, HD-SDI, SDI, XLR, and RCA connections.
  • Route and dress cables from IT closets to device locations (AV equipment racks, TVs, projectors, speakers).
  • Install cable pathways (J-hooks, D-rings) and perform cable management, including dressing and labeling.
  • Build AV equipment racks from scratch.
  • Troubleshoot basic audio, video, and control system issues.
  • Read and interpret blueprints for installation.
  • Communicate professionally with team members and management, following written and verbal instructions.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols, including proper PPE use, job site cleanup, and OSHA standards.


Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 6 months of commercial AV installation experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Crestron or Extron control systems.
  • Active OSHA 10 certification preferred.
  • Physical ability to work on ladders and scissor lifts, in confined spaces, lift up to 50 lbs, and move up to 75 lbs; ability to stand for entire shifts.
  • Basic hand tools required: multi-bit screwdriver, tape measure, snips, needle-nose and channel-lock pliers, RG6 cable stripper, coax cable crimper, punch-down tool, flashlight, steel/composite toe work boots, gloves, and tool pouch.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced AV hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints and build AV-specific racks independently.
  • Beginner-level software troubleshooting skills (DSP, audio tuning, control panel configuration).
  • 2-5 years of experience with Crestron, Extron, QSC, Biamp, AMX, Dante.
  • AV-specific certifications from manufacturers (Crestron, Extron, etc.).
  • Experience leading 1-2 technicians on project tasks.
