The Bridges and Structures Practice is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer in Portland or Salem, OR.

DEA's Portland or Salem, OR office is hiring a Senior Bridge Engineer to lead and perform technical bridge engineering and to perform project management on bridge projects. Areas of work to include bridge planning, analysis and design, construction engineering, in-service inspection, preservation, and rehabilitation projects. A successful candidate will be able to assist project teams through the completion of various projects and task assignments in the role of Engineer, Task Leader, or Project Manager. In this role you will perform and/or check structural analyses and develop or check design calculations using AASHTO and other design codes for different bridge, transportation, and transit structural systems. Additionally, a successful candidate will have knowledge of bridge load rating practices, bridge field inspection, and reporting practices.

What You'll Do Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and assist in the development of bridge design deliverables including concept reports, TS&L Reports, design calculations, construction plans, specifications, estimates, and construction schedules
  • Manage projects to ensure excellence in project execution for on-time, on-budget deliverables of quality that meet or exceed the industry's standard of care
  • Checking of engineering calculations, drawings, estimates, specifications, and construction schedule deliverables for accuracy and compliance with contractual requirements
  • Provide bridge design leadership and mentorship to junior engineers/designers
  • Solve project problems in a team environment, particularly where project issues and challenges are significantly affected by the proposed structural solutions
  • Provide innovative solutions related to the design of transportation infrastructure
  • Explore and implement technological trends in bridge engineering
  • Manage, develop, and/or check load rating calculations and reports
  • Participate in client and project development teams
  • Develop and maintain relationships with owners, contractors, and sub-consultants
  • Assist pursuit champions and project managers in the development of proposal documents
  • Communicate with clients and express the client's needs to project team
  • Represent projects and the firm at meetings and conferences
  • Maintain and continue to develop the firm's reputation for technical excellence in bridge engineering
What You Bring Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Minimum 8 years of bridge engineering experience
  • Current Professional Engineer registration in the United States
  • Proficiency in structural design software applications, with an emphasis on bridge design software, such as SAP2000, Midas Civil, LARSA 4D, PG Super, Conspan, LPile, BRASS
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience in seismic analysis and design of bridge structures
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Positive and energetic team attitude and ability to lead and mentor staff
  • Physically able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions
  • Applicant must have a valid driver's license and clear motor vehicle report
  • Business development experience on bridge projects
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Oregon
  • Licensed Structural Engineer (SE)
  • Minimum 2 years of project manager experience on transportation projects
  • Knowledgeable of AASHTO and Oregon bridge design standards
  • Working knowledge of other technical disciplines, such as track, highway, drainage, geotechnical, and hydraulics, associated with the design and construction of public infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting requirements
  • Experience with bridge condition inspection and structural assessments
