Assists in inventory management and of the preparation of dialysate solution. Technicians function in accordance with standard, written procedures, and guidelines of WVU Hospitals and the Dialysis Department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. High school diploma or Equivalent. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Associates degree OR post high school education in a science field of study. EXPERIENCE: 1. Six months of related health care experience. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Responsible for reading physicians' orders, preparing, and delivering dialysate, and ordering and delivering drug supplies for various patientcare units. 2. Reads dialysate orders and prepares dialysate for dispensing. 3. Interprets lists and uses this information to replenish dialysate inventory and delivers contents to stock areas 4. Takes inventory and analyzes supplies, replacing outdated or deteriorated supplies; replaces depleted inventory. 5. Labels products appropriately. 6. Performs arithmetic calculations for usual dosage determinations required in solution preparation. 7. Performs in accordance with departmental standards established for speed and accuracy. 8. Prepares and labels prepackaged supplies and inventory after determining usage patterns and prepackaging requirements. Also maintains records related to this. 9. Maintains inventory and supplies in assigned service areas. 10. Answers telephone and channels calls to appropriate individual. 11. Ensures that the service areas and storage areas in the institution are kept clean and orderly. 12. Responsible for all water testing performed prior to production of dialysate solution on a daily basis 13. Appropriately document and record all testing results for compliance standards 14. Understand basic functions of dialysis machines PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
