Metallurgical Engineer

This position supports Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) Material Testing Laboratory (MTL) operations. The Material Testing Laboratory is a unique testing facility whose mission is the metallurgical characterization of tritium reservoirs and associated components for the nuclear weapon Design Agencies and the National Nuclear Security Administration.

The Material Testing Laboratory employs a team of experienced engineers, scientists, and technicians in conducting this mission. Both non-destructive and destructive evaluations are performed using a variety of analytical/testing equipment such as mechanical testers, hardness testers, optical/digital 2D/3D microscopes, scanning electron microscopes, energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD).
