Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Senior Editorial/Media Specialist for the Dean's Office within the School of Engineering. This position reports to both the Director of the Office of Communications and Marketing, with additional oversight by the Assistant Director. The Senior Editorial/Media Specialist supports the operations of the School of Engineering's Communications and Marketing Office. The position collaborates on the overall communication plans for the School of Engineering.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Contributes to the school's editorial operations, supporting the Dean's Office and seven academic departments, among others.
  • Provides editorial expertise, and in-depth, subject specific advice to staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Coordinates and leads project teams.
  • Writes and edits print and social media communications including correspondence and speeches for the Dean of the School, providing copy for promotional efforts, websites, internal and external newsletters, alumni communication, and more.

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communication, marketing or a related field and five years relevant experience in an editorial function or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge, skill, and understanding of writing, formatting, editing, proofreading, publishing, promotional advertising, organization coordination, and/or facilitation.
Certifications/Licenses
  • A valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Computer literacy to include industry standard software.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a university setting.
