Position Description

About us: TechSource is a leader in providing specialized technical and scientific expertise in support of national security missions. As a partner on the primary Maintenance and Operations (M&O) contract with Triad at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), TechSource maintains a uniquely close and embedded relationship with the Laboratory, closer than most external contractors. Through this role, TechSource collaborates directly with LANL leadership, technical divisions, and federal stakeholders to advance complex nuclear and national security programs. TechSource supports LANL with expert program management, engineering, and scientific capabilities, strengthening critical infrastructure, enhancing mission delivery, and helping develop the skilled workforce essential for sustaining LANL's long-term national security objectives.

About the team: The Associate Laboratory Directorate for Weapons Production (ALDWP) at Los Alamos National Laboratory is responsible for leading the Laboratory's nuclear weapons production mission. ALDWP oversees programs that include plutonium pit manufacturing, component production, and the modernization of critical facilities and capabilities that support the nation's nuclear deterrent. The organization works closely with DOE and NNSA to ensure safe, secure, compliant, and mission-driven execution of weapons production activities, while also developing the workforce, infrastructure, and processes needed to sustain these capabilities for the long term.

Overview: The Mechanic Technician 1-2 supports maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and equipment used within ALDWP operations. This role is ideal for hands-on problem solvers who enjoy diagnosing issues, working with tools, and keeping mission-critical equipment running reliably.

  • Assist senior technicians with disassembly, inspection, installation, and system testing.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues using standard tools and established procedures.

  • Follow work instructions, safety procedures, and configuration requirements.

  • Document work performed and communicate equipment status to supervisors.

Schedule: This team operates on a rotating schedule to support continuous mission needs. Selected candidates must be willing and able to work various shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as assigned. Flexibility and reliability are essential, as schedules may change based on operational requirements.

Hiring Requirement: All new hires at TechSource are required to pass a federal background check and federal drug test, which includes medical marijuana.
