Title: Environmental Specialist
Location: Lake Jackson, TX

Salary: $76,440 - $129,500
Schedule: Hybrid schedule available of up to 2 days remote per week; 9/80; 5/8's
Relocation Available

Focus: The Environmental Specialist shares with the Environmental Leader the responsibility for implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the environmental management systems (work processes, standards, procedures) to ensure regulatory compliance and add value to meet site objectives and maintain the license to operate. This job may be applied within a specific plant or may be leveraged across multiple plants within a site.

The Freeport site is the single largest chlor alkali complex in the world with more than 1,000 employees. The chemical products produced at our Freeport location include chlorine and caustic soda, vinyls, epoxies, chlorinated organics, aromatics, bleach, hydrogen, and hydrochloric acid.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage air regulatory compliance. This includes all required reporting around Title V, MON, HON, AEI, MACT regulations, as applicable; and support for permit applications for plant projects that consists of new and modified equipment, requests for permit changes, and permit renewal applications to ensure continuous license to operate.
  • Manage the systems to perform environmental calculations and ensure full compliance. Collect and provide timely data for various EH&S reports (internal and external) and agency requests.
  • Identify and drive improvement project opportunities for supported plants (ex. emission reduction, spill reduction).
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations and corrective action process.
  • Act as the coordinator and host for TCEQ and other agency representatives inspecting Olin Freeport facilities.

Position Requirements:

  • Must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
    • High school diploma or equivalent plus 7+ years of experience in air quality compliance; OR
    • Bachelor's Degree* in Environmental, Engineering, Chemistry, or other relevant technical discipline; Master's Degree* preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations and compliance; preferably including knowledge and experience with Texas regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, verbally and in writing with the ability to respond during crisis and high-pressure situations and rapidly adjust to changing priorities as needed.
  • Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license.
