Velosity Brooklyn Park is searching for a Metrology Engineer to support our manufacturing facility in Brooklyn Park, MN. The Metrology Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining metrology systems and processes to ensure dimensional accuracy and compliance with medical device standards. This role supports product development, process validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This is an on-site position.

The typical pay range for this role: $75,000 - $100,000. This role is also eligible for our 5% quarterly bonus target.

This pay range reflects the base hourly rate or annual salary for positions within this job grade, based on our market-based pay structures. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal equity, business needs, and local market conditions. While the full range is shared for transparency, offers are rarely made at the minimum or maximum of the range.

Essential Duties:

  • Design and implement metrology procedures and inspection plans for complex components.
  • Program and operate CMMs, vision systems, and optical measurement tools.
  • Develop and perform calibration procedures and maintain measurement equipment per ISO 17025 standards.
  • Conduct Gage R&R studies and Test Method Validations (TMV).
  • Support First Article Inspections and in-process quality checks.
  • Analyze measurement data and recommend process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, FDA QSR, and customer requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports and maintain documentation for audits.
  • Train and mentor technicians and other staff on metrology practices and procedures

Qualifications:

  • 5 years in metrology or dimensional inspection (medical device preferred).
  • Proficiency in GD&T and CMM programming (PC-DMIS or similar).
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, and ISO 17025.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform daily tasks safely, work independently with limited supervision, solve practical problems and work effectively with customers, vendors and other departments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Physical & Mental Demands:

  • Walking and stair climbing is required within the office/shop areas. Sitting, standing, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, and fingers are physical requirements. Must have correctable eyesight and good depth perception. Must be able to walk, sit and occasionally climb and balance.
  • Ability to lift to 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and complete them within a timely manner; Ability to make decisions with limited information.

Work Environment:

This is a non-smoking, professional manufacturing shop with normal lighting and climate control. This position may require one to move throughout the shop and office and may be subject to airborne contaminants and chemical odors as would be customary in an injection molding/ Precision Machining shop.

Protective Clothing Required:

When in certain locations of the facility, eye and ear protection are required. Closed-toed/ Slip resistant shoes are also required in certain locations.
