Mission: The Design Engineer will primarily lead and coordinate the design activities linked to new product development design projects, as well as continuous improvement and support of existing products. They develop the overall product concept and ensure that Engineering Best Practices are fulfilled during the development process. Primary Responsibilities:
Lead, organize and coordinate the project team during all project phases, following the Concept-to-Product procedures. Act as project leader during the functional and production prototype phases of the development process. Work with marketing production, service, lab and purchasing to ensure a high-quality, cost-effective design.
Perform design work of the reciprocating compressor system and system components, such as the inlet filter, after-cooler, air or gas piping system, oil system, electrical controls and related pneumatic and fluid dynamic controls etc. This design shall include the related heat balance analysis, fluid dynamic analysis, strength analysis and any other necessary analysis.
Create project drawings and documents such as electrical schematics, general arrangements, piping and instrumentation diagrams, bills of materials, etc.
Education and Experience Requirements
2 to 5 years of experience with reciprocating machinery, motors, instrumentation, piping and/or process equipment require.
Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, mechanics of materials, fabrication processes, sound and vibration principles, and sheet metal and structural design on packages
Working knowledge of drafting concepts including but not limited to: English/metric conversion, tolerances, symbols, and spatial conception, GD&T
Must be creative, innovative, cost-driven, have good hands-on practical mechanical skills and a team player.
