We are seeking key contributors to support the development and operations of the Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV), the next-generation lunar surface mobility system that will enable Artemis astronauts and commercial partners to explore the lunar surface.

We need Flight Operations Leads for multiple operations disciplines, including crew training, anomaly resolution, documentation development (flight rules, procedures, etc.), and more.

Responsibilities

The Lunar Terrain Vehicle - Flight Operations Lead will:

    Lead and manage team of flight controllers and instructors in establishing the mission operations architecture for the Lunar Terrain Vehicle human spaceflight program in collaboration with customer stakeholders, leveraging comprehensive spaceflight operations experience in the dynamic commercial environment
  • Create, test, and verify operational products and analysis
  • Lead crew training activities for new commercial spaceflight systems, including development of lesson plans and instruction materials; conduct lessons in classrooms, trainers, and simulators; conduct onboard training sessions; conduct crew and flight controller evaluations; write training facility requirements
  • Lead real-time operations, including maintaining safe environment for astronauts; monitoring real-time status and performance of systems; control system operations from mission control; report status and anomalies; and determine mission impacts and implement corrective actions from malfunctions
  • Apply extensive technical knowledge and operations concepts to exercise effective decision making and initiative in a real-time and fast-paced operational environment
  • Provide employee growth, team building, and mentoring for the organization
  • Perform all other assigned duties


Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • BS degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school and fifteen (15) years of spaceflight operations experience

-OR-

  • BS degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school and twenty (20) years of spaceflight operations experience
  • Extensive experience in flight operations or mission control, preferably human spaceflight
  • Completed flight controller and/or instructor certifications
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with customers and stakeholders
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, leadership, teamwork, technical, and administrative skills
  • Shift work (nights, weekends, and holidays) is required
  • Candidate may be required to pass a standard flight controller physical examination and pass security clearances
  • Perform all other assigned duties

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Working experience with Human Space Exploration programs
  • Previous experience in flight control or crew training, especially certification as FCR or Instructor
  • Experience developing operational documentation (Flight Rules, Procedures, etc.)
  • Experience with requirement development, decomposition, documentation, and review
  • Experience with human spaceflight anomaly remediation process
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team and independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)

Essential Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.

  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.

  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
