| Summary |
Responsible for the support of college technology Provide students, staff and faculty with support. Develop workstation platforms and software packages. Provide Canvas administration and help desk support. Coordinate and support with the Center for Learning Excellence regarding Canvas. Perform support and server administration for HCC's remote sites. Assist the staff in implementing technological changes as it pertains to course curriculum and requirements. Oversee and coordinate technology operations at the Maryland Innovation Center. Provide training and support to faculty, staff and students. Stay updated with the latest technologies and procedures to meet the evolving needs of the organization. Provide technical expertise, leadership and training. |
| Essential Role Responsibilities |
* Provide support, guidance and direction on configuration management issues for remote campuses.
* Support faculty, staff, and students in the use of computing equipment and software.
* Support faculty and staff with mobile device wireless configurations and cellphone activation/setup.
* Troubleshoot and diagnose technology problems including computers, printers, software and phones.
* Coordinate repair, installation or replacement of equipment and software.
* Maintain parts, equipment, and software inventory.
* Evaluate, recommend and test technology equipment and software.
* Deploy system images using Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (
MDT) and Microsoft Configuration Manager.
* Package and deploy software using end point management solutions.
* Deploy, manage and configure printer settings utilizing a printer server management tool.
* Manage administrator right escalation using privilege management tools.
* Diagnose and assist in resolving network connectivity problems including telephone and data cabling throughout the college campuses and the Metropolitan Area Network.
* Update accounts and permissions in an Active Directory environment.
* Provide support for HCC's labs including dental (
HIPAA), cyber security, nursing, Allied Health, and esports.
* Remediate software vulnerabilities.
* Manage various contractors as needed.
* Develop and provide training for staff, faculty, and students.
* Coordinate work for part-time interns and volunteers.
* Account for all work in an
ITSM ticketing platform, including status, resolution and time worked.
* Document, maintain and improve processes and procedures.
* Work with college departments, customers and Howard County Economic Development Authority to integrate and support technology.
* Provide Canvas admin and help desk support
* Coordinate and consult with the Center for Learning Excellence regarding Canvas
* Perform other duties as assigned.

* Bachelor's degree in Information Systems and/or
AAS degrees with Information Technology emphasis, or 5 years of system management
* Knowledge of server performance monitoring systems.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Configuration System
* Knowledge of Microsoft System Center
* Knowledge of Networking, specifically related to
TCP/IP network stack.
* Knowledge of storage technologies, i.e.
SAN/
NAS
* Knowledge of Microsoft Desktop and Server Operating Systems
* Knowledge of imaging process using Imaging software
* Knowledge of Virtualized Environment, including software virtualization
* Knowledge of Dell Servers and Workstation Equipment
* Knowledge of Microsoft
SQL Server Administration
* Knowledge of programming languages (PowerShell, Vbscript, Perl)

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Regular attendance is a requirement of this job.

HCC offers two retirement options: The Pension, which requires a 7% employee contribution and The
ORP, a 403(b) with a 7.25% employer contribution only. Employees in positions that do not require a bachelor's degree must participate in The Pension. Employees that possess a bachelor's degree and hold professional positions that require a bachelor's degree may choose to participate in either The Pension or The
ORP. |
