Summary:
We are seeking a visionary optical engineer who thrives on solving complex problems and pushing the boundaries of optical design. This role demands exceptional technical depth, creative problem-solving, and the ability to innovate in areas where conventional solutions fall short.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and optimization of advanced optical systems for high-precision applications.
  • Develop novel approaches to minimize aberrations, maximize efficiency, and achieve breakthrough performance.
  • Develop and balance complete photon budgets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate optics into cutting-edge mechanical and electronic systems.
  • Drive research initiatives to explore emerging optical technologies and materials.
  • Mentor junior engineers in rigorous design methodologies and creative ideation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Masters Degree with 2 years of experience in optical system design and analysis. Or a PhD with 0 years of experience.
  • Expert in ray tracing, wave optics, and tolerance analysis using tools like Zemax, Code V, or equivalent.
  • Proven track record of innovative designs and patents/publications in optics.
  • Strong mathematical foundation and ability to model complex optical phenomena.

Salary: $115,875 - 193,125. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.

Preferred:

  • Experience with freeform optics, polarization control, and non-traditional imaging systems.
  • Ability to challenge assumptions and propose unconventional solutions.
  • Full time onsite/in-person.

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently:

$115,875-193,125
