Under general or direct supervision of the Divisional Supervisor, performs customer premise field work of a semi-technical nature to satisfy customer complaints and requests, collect bills and maintain accurate customer records.

- Under general or direct supervision of the Divisional Supervisor, performs customer premise field work of a semi-technical nature to satisfy customer complaints and requests, collect bills and maintain accurate customer records.
- Individuals will also be responsible for operating computerized equipment as it relates to work they are performing.
- To read gas and electric meters (including route meter reading work).
- To turn off gas and electric meters.
- To turn on electric meters.
- To replace gas meter registers.
- To install, remove and change single phase socket type electric meters.
- To perform field investigations on; new meter installations for account number assignment; premise visits to obtain information on the meters; connected load, name plate data and customer usage; locked meters with consumption; single phase switched meter and diversion of service investigations; field investigate unsealed meter conditions to determine possible theft and seal as required; field investigate customer premises to verify possible medical emergency condition and/or mark meter as required.
- To collect bills or make payment arrangements for gas and electric service, merchandise and sundry bills and deposits.
- Install and/or remove socket type electric service limiters.
- To perform other related or less skilled duties as may be assigned.
- To perform in accordance with the Company Safety Rules and Good Housekeeping Practices.
- May perform electric meter warehousing functions in conjunction with 1st and/or 2nd Class Meter Technicians.
- After 90 days in title, may perform field collections (collect payments or turn off service for delinquent customers).
Required Education/Experience
Relevant Work Experience
- Good grooming, neat appearance and a pleasant personality to perform customer contact work. Required
- Must be in sound physical condition. Required
- Must pass a validated entry test. Required
- Must have the ability to keep records and make reports as necessary in conjunction with the assigned work. Required
- Must have general knowledge of rates and Company policy Required
- Qualified bidders will be subject to drug testing as required by Department of Transportation Regulations. Required
