*** IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION CANDIDATE MUST BE SERVING PERMANENTLY IN THE TITLE OF ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERINTENDENT OF HIGHWAY*** OPERATIONS

Directs the overall management of citywide milling and resurfacing program by monitoring productivity, shifting entire crews citywide to meet workloads. Implements and enforces quality standards and ensures that heavy duty equipment and operators are available to all crews citywide. Supervises directly and indirectly, a large staff of professional, technical, administrative, clerical and labor class employees. Directs the management of a central depot in Brooklyn and second depot located in Queens. These depots enable Roadway Repair and Maintenance (RRM) to maximize use of our truck fleet, increase the amount of asphalt required from both RRM asphalt plants and increase the efficiency and accountability of the truck fleet. Determines what rental equipment is needed to support RRM Milling and Paving Program. Directs the Night Emergency Program (JETS). Ensures that night and weekend coverage to handle roadway emergencies is provided, also ensures that JETS back charges for repairs to utility companies are properly handled. Also ensures that the City's resurfacing target is met. Ensure that 311 complaints are answered promptly and accurately. Performs related duties.

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERINTENDENT - 10039

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and five years of full-time experience, with a public or private organization, in inspection, maintenance, construction or engineering work related to the work of a large scale highway system; at least 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity or supervising a staff engaged in performing the above type of work; or

2. A valid New York State Professional Engineer's License and 18 months of supervisory, administrative, managerial or executive experience in civil engineering work related to highway construction or maintenance; or

3. A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and nine years of the experience described in "1" above; at least 18 months of supervisory, administrative, managerial or executive experience as described in "1" above; or

4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2" or "3" above and at least 18 months of supervisory, administrative, managerial or executive experience as described in "1" above.

Preferred Skills

Candidate must have experience running a borough-wide Highway Maintenance Operation.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
