Job Summary

Assists in the creation of clear, user-friendly online, print, direct email, new media content and graphic design for the Division of Human Resources. Maintains editorial standards and accuracy/quality of all print, digital media and social assets. Amplifies the business unit social media following on external platforms. Aligned with university's strategic plan, develops various creatives in support of communication campaigns to strengthen FIU's brand as an employer of choice.

  • Demonstrates responsibility for hearing the voice of the user and considers all of the various inputs for optimal content development and execution. Works and collaborates with content at many levels (information architecture, style guides, graphics, templates and analytics).
  • Assesses, drafts, reviews and submits all content for approval. Coordinates and manages content calendar for effective deployment of communication strategies.
  • Sets quality standards and measures content quality. Addresses online writing best practices and updates DHR communication writing style guide as needed.
  • Works closely with key stakeholders to develop content requirements for existing and proposed content elements.
  • Leads participatory design/user-testing sessions for HR Relations platforms. Updates and maintains content/graphics on a regular basis. Generates reports to analyze and enhance user engagement.
  • Works closely with the HR Relations staff to help determine new media strategies that enhance employee engagement efforts. Develops proposals for approval, development and execution of new strategies.
  • Gathers/generates visual assets for marketing (photography, videos, etc.) Distributes, maintains, and responds to inquiries generated via content on digital/social channels (HR websites, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Flickr). Coordinates and develops content for distribution via Constant Contact or similar platforms to include graphic design of required visuals. Manages the HR and the FIU Retiree Association newsletters. Generate appropriate analytics to monitor and enhance reader engagement.
  • Partners with cross-functional teams to ensure print, digital/website needs of DHR are met.
  • Works with HR webmaster and web content team to assist with edits and updates to website content.
  • Provides support to HR Relations employee engagement programs, events, and services designed to enhance the employee experience.
  • Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
  • Works in alignment with the University's Marketing & Communication brand standards.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of work experience in digital design/publication agency environments as content strategist, copywriter, or an editorial related field.



Desired Qualifications
  • Print/digital/online/new media design, content management, and strategy experience.
  • Strong Graphic skills.
  • Content creation experience that includes writing, editing, graphic design, video production for digital platforms.
  • PowerPoint/graphic design experience (Canva, InDesign, or similar)
  • Preferred candidates with experience using social content platforms (Hootsuite, TalkWalker, or similar)
  • Direct digital email marketing platform experience (Constant Contact, Mailchimp, or similar).
  • Familiarity with AI tools.
  • Knowledgeable of ADA compliance and copyright law.
