Responsibilities

Brentwood Hospital is looking for a dynamic Director of Assessment/Referral (Intake)! The Director of Intake is accountable for the oversight and direction of the hospital's Admissions Department. As a clinician, this position provides direction to a staff of specialists in the provision of patient access to care and behavioral health assessment services, including call management, clinical evaluations for level of care, crisis intervention, admissions and referrals. This position interfaces closely with the hospital's medical staff, nursing staff, fellow department heads, and administration, as well as external referring agencies and payers. The Intake Director is responsible for the department's budget, policies and procedures, regulatory compliance, service excellence, and data management/analysis. In addition, the Intake Director participates with the senior leadership team in the development and management of processes related to the hospital's strategic goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Staff the department, including the scheduling of employees for adequate coverage; cooperates actively with HR Dept. to recruit department staff; schedules staff effectively, taking into account times of highest call volume and highest assessment and admission times; posts monthly schedules; Keeps intake organized and flowing

2. Checks insurance, coordinates with Business Office and UR; Maintains all pre-certs on all admissions & makes sure all are completed

3. Interacts effectively with physicians and other clinical staff, supporting philosophy, and implementation of programs; manages physicians vacations and finding coverage appropriately; ensures physicians have correct insurance

4. Interacts well with referral sources: facilitates prompt, effective communications with these individuals and/or services, in interest of patient's and organization's operations.

5. Ensures prompt departmental orientation of each new hire; documents each new hire's participation in orientation, in accordance with applicable standards and regulations; provides each new hire with current job description and reviews expectation of job at hire

Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in relevant field and licensed by the LASWBE/LPCBE or RN-Licensure in the state of Louisiana-(Bachelors or Master's) prepared from an accredited college or university preferred.;

Experience: At least five years of intake/crisis experience in an inpatient setting with familiarity with the behavioral health continuum of care. At least three years of managerial experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Licensed RN, LCSW, LPC, LMFT preferred
