KPMG is currently seeking a Senior Specialist, HHS Compliance Auditor to join our Managed Services practice.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct and support audit and compliance activities for state and federal-sponsored healthcare and human services programs, ensuring alignment with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations, and document work papers in accordance with the professional standards set forth within each engagement's audit program guide and instructions documents
  • Learn and apply technical audit procedures and project subject matter to the degree of independently completing test procedures and document findings, results, insights, and observations, and support the generation of formal reports for internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies
  • Analyze and validate healthcare provider and payer financials, including cost reports, reimbursement models, payment integrity metrics, and supporting documentation to measure compliance with program requirements and state/federal regulations, and review and interpret claims and encounter data to identify anomalies, trends, and compliance risks
  • Lead interactions and collaborate with clients, third-party auditees, internal team members, management, and subcontractor stakeholders regarding daily project matters and technical information, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement corrective action plans based on audit findings
  • Support the development and delivery of training and technical assistance to clients, auditees, and/or team members on project processes and reporting standards, and contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance data accuracy, reporting efficiency, client delivery, and compliance outcomes
  • Deliver against responsibilities on time and on budget, adhere to firm/team protocols for information protection and managing confidential client data as defined in each engagement's formal Information Protection Plan and other guidance documents
  • Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG's respectful and courteous work environment
Qualifications:
  • Minimum three years of recent experience in healthcare audits, compliance, or financial analysis within state and/or federal programs, and a minimum of one year recent experience overseeing staff and reporting to both management and/or clients
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required
  • Strong understanding of Medicaid/Medicare and other HHS programs, provider reimbursement methodologies, and payer operations, and familiarity with healthcare provider and payer financials, cost reports, and claims/encounter data
  • Proficiency in analyzing claims and encounter data using tools such as Microsoft Office (especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word), SQL, or healthcare analytics platforms
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as CMS guidelines, HIPAA, and state-specific compliance standards
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel as required by business needs, especially to Albany, NY
