Customer Service Specialist - Medical Equipment Services Location: Fully On-Site - Face-to-Face Customer Service Core Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch) On-Call Rotation: Once every 6 weeks (Saturday & Sunday, 9 AM-9 PM) \| Once hired direct About the Role We are seeking a dedicated Customer Service Specialist to join our team in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment. This role involves direct interaction with patients, physicians, and insurance providers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of medical equipment and services. Key Responsibilities * Handle inbound and outbound calls with professionalism and empathy * Create and manage patient orders based on physician referrals * Educate patients on financial responsibilities and insurance coverage * Verify insurance eligibility, co-pays, deductibles, and obtain pre-authorizations * Navigate multiple EMR systems to retrieve and input documentation * Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with company procedures * Communicate effectively with internal teams regarding insurance trends and patient needs * Resolve customer concerns and provide solutions with compassion * Meet performance metrics including quality assurance and responsiveness Required Skills * Strong customer service and communication skills * Familiarity with medical insurance processes * Understanding of medical terminology and durable medical equipment * Ability to manage multiple systems and tasks efficiently * Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills * Patience and empathy, especially when working with elderly patients * Conflict resolution and de-escalation abilities Preferred Qualifications * Experience in a medical or clinical setting * Knowledge of HIPAA regulations * Background in respiratory therapy or currently pursuing a related degree * Experience with EPIC or BrightTree software Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
