| Position Summary: This position has several areas of technical responsibility which include tooling, applications, and programming support for manufacturing. This position requires working closely with machining and fabrication team leaders, programming, engineering, quality and production control functions to ensure "customer" quality requirements are met as well as, supporting shipping requirements and cost estimates. Reports to: Supervisor Cad Cam & Tooling Engineering Personnel: Not applicable. Accountabilities: Accountable for understanding and following all SOPs and WIs related to job duties while supporting Manufacturing concepts. Accountable for ensuring quality requirements and cost estimates are met regarding tooling and applications. Duties: * Assess value of current cutting tools as well as investigate and assess new tooling technology for continual process improvement. * Assist Machining Supervisors and Programmers in proper selection of tooling on new projects with the intent of maximizing productivity. * Perform the role of "technical consultant" in support of the machining operation. * Assist with programming needs and support. This would include part programming, probing, and verification for program integrity. * Assist with assessing the needs of the machining organization through PIT discussions and CNC programming hardware and software needs. * Assist in CAR investigations to better understand root cause and prevention of non-conformances throughout the operation. * Write and maintain as required all TIL's (Tool Information Letter). * Create Tooling Drawings * Provide Speed & Feed information and all necessary parameter data within the TDM system Job Qualification Requirements: Educational Experience - High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology preferred. 10 years NC programming/Fixturing are equivalent for degree replacement Experience - Intermediate computer skills including experience with Mastercam & TDM tool data management. A minimum of ten years in manufacturing with experience in CNC programming preferred. Physical Demands - The employee is required to: * stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to floor * exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or * exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently. Visual Acuity - Near acuity and accommodation as required for reading computer screens, documents, machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts and machinery. Hearing Ability - Accommodations as required to communicate with internal and external customers and the ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes to take appropriate action. Working Conditions - Normally works in a shop environment and may frequently be subject to: * high noise levels from operating machines * physical hazards from moving equipment and production components * breathing fumes, dust and mist * skin exposure to oils and cutting fluids. * Welding flashes The employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
