  • Base Pay: $150,000 to $190,000 annual

Job Description Summary: The Head of Data Governance will be responsible for defining, implementing, and leading Airgas' enterprise data governance strategy. This leader will partner with business and technology executives to ensure data is trusted, secure, compliant, and usable across the enterprise. The role will oversee data policies, stewardship, data quality, and regulatory alignment, while enabling Airgas to maximize the business value of its data assets.

  • Develop and lead the enterprise-wide data governance framework, policies, and standards.

  • Facilitating Data Councils and Domain Committees, where cross-functional stakeholders can align on data definitions, resolve conflicts, and prioritize improvements.

  • Partner with Airgas leadership to align governance with data strategy, analytics, and AI initiatives.

  • Creating a domain-based stewardship model in which named business and technical data stewards are accountable for the quality and definition of critical data elements (e.g., Customer, Product, Asset, Safety).

  • Define and enforce data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models across business domains.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage enterprise metadata, data catalogs, and lineage to enable traceability and transparency.

  • Partner with operational and business units to embed stewardship in day-to-day processes.

  • Build a culture of data accountability and literacy across Airgas.

  • Provide training and support to data stewards, analysts, and business users.

  • Evangelize the role of governance in enabling digital transformation, customer experience, and AI-driven innovation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is required.

  • 10+ years in data management, data quality, or data strategy leadership roles.

  • 5+ years in cloud and modern data platforms (GCP, AWS, etc.)

  • Previous leadership interaction experience (Divisional Presidents, Executives, Stakeholders)

  • Previous experience influencing data ownership with a variety of stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree is preferred.

  • Experience in driving AI counsel highly preferred

  • Previously FTE management experience a plus
