Must be currently in the K-9 unit a minimum of one year for further consideration.

Our canine group, under Allied Universal Enhanced Protection Services, is hiring a Firearms Detection Canine (FDC) Watch Commander. The Firearms Detection Canine Watch Commander for K-9 Operations is responsible for overseeing the supervision of assigned K-9 teams. This role involves continuous communication with K-9 teams to ensure optimal performance and the delivery of high-quality service, alongside close liaison with administrative staff regarding K-9 services. The FDC Watch Commander will support field-based teams and contribute to operational excellence. The Firearms Detection Canine Watch Commander must be available to travel as required to support operational needs and assist in various deployments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Oversee the daily operations and performance of assigned K-9 teams, ensuring that K-9 services are efficiently and effectively executed
  • Maintain constant communication with K-9 teams, providing guidance, support, and discussing performance, administration, and any other operational matters
  • Provide support to field-based K-9 teams, offering on-the-ground assistance as needed to ensure mission success
  • Review daily and weekly reports submitted by K-9 teams to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with operational standards
  • Serve as a liaison between the K-9 teams, administrative staff, and other management teams within the Retail FDC, fostering collaboration and ensuring smooth operational workflows
  • Actively deploy and patrol with K-9 teams at assigned work sites, ensuring that operational procedures and safety protocols are adhered to
  • Ensure that all K-9 teams maintain required training, certifications, and licenses. Monitor and enforce compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices
  • Maintain K9 team certifications as required by Allied Universal

QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License with at least one year of driving experience, a clean driving record (no major violations within last 36 months, no more than 1 accident in last 24 months, no more than one minor moving violation in last 24 months), a minimum level of insurance as required by Company policy, and the ability to safely operate a vehicle required
  • Must possess a minimum of two (2) years in one or more of the following:
    • Service in any military branch (including Guard and Reserve)
    • Law enforcement role, with a completed accredited Law Enforcement Academy (Municipal/State/Federal)
    • Municipal or federal correctional officer, including attending a full-time accredited LE/Corrections Academy (must have enforcement responsibilities)
  • Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience as a handler within the K-9 unit
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines
  • Highly organized and able to keep management on track with required information available at all times
  • Must be highly proficient and fully functional in all Microsoft Office applications and able to effectively utilize all available office management, unit technology, including phones, email, databases, Outlook, and division applications
  • Professional, articulate, and able to use good independent judgment and discretion
  • Outstanding oral and written interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to write plans and reports in a clear, understandable manner
  • Must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
  • Must be able to multi-task in dynamic, ever-changing environment, with the ability to successfully handle stressful situations while delivering high quality work

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):

  • A combination of formal education, training, and skills possessed by an individual with related coursework and practical work experience in security, military and/or the law enforcement industry
  • Supervisory/management experience, preferably in a K-9 related protective service role
