The Opportunity

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for connecting public affairs, market intelligence, and business strategy? TC Energy is seeking an Advisor who thrives at the intersection of geopolitical insight and commercial opportunity. In this role, you'll help shape the company's long-term growth by identifying emerging trends and translating them into actionable strategies that enhance business value and competitiveness.

As part of the External Relations team, you'll collaborate across functions to align policy, market and geopolitical developments with enterprise priorities-driving innovation, enabling investment and advocacy efforts.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze geopolitical, technological and market trends(e.g., trade, energy, policy, regulatory, AI) to uncover opportunities and impacts to inform project development and long-term External Relations strategy.

  • Collaborate across functionsto integrate external dynamics as we advance a pipeline of business opportunities that align enterprise strategy with on-the-ground execution.

  • Translate policy trends into business insightsdelivering high-quality briefs, scenario analyses and recommendations to leadership and development teams.

  • Develop and support initiativesthat strengthen relationships between TC Energy, government entities and economic development agencies.

  • Contribute to advocacy strategies, including policy proposals, regulatory filings and stakeholder engagement plans that create favorable conditions for growth and investment.

  • Strengthen relationships with government agencies, elected officials and industry coalitions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Business, or related field.

  • A master's degree (MBA, MPP, or equivalent) is preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, corporate strategy, business or economic development, ideally within the energy sector.

  • Strong understanding of political and regulatory environments in North America.

  • Proven ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.

  • Experience working cross-functionally or within government, economic development agencies, or industry coalitions is an asset.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, relationship-building and high attention to detail.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of energy markets, regulatory economics, environmental/climate policy, permitting, emissions regulations, etc.

  • Understanding of advocacy, stakeholder engagement, public affairs.

  • Comfort with ambiguity - regulatory and political landscapes shift quickly.

  • Travel as needed (to attend meetings, conferences and site visits) - typically a small percentage of time (e.g. up to 10-25%).
