Overview
Electrical Construction Manager The Opportunity We are seeking a Field Leader for the role of Electrical Construction Manager. This position is for the construction professional who is ready to run our largest, most complex, and highest-value mega data center projects with a focus on electrical installation and commissioning. You will own the entire physical execution process, directing all field activities, managing multi-disciplinary trade superintendents, and ensuring zero-incident safety and world-class quality from ground-breaking through mechanical completion. This is a role for a proven expert who thrives in a dynamic, high-stakes on-site environment. Location You can be based anywhere in the U.S., but you must have an unwavering ability to travel and live on-site at client projects for extended, long-term assignments.
Responsibilities
Your Key Responsibilities
Large-Scale Site Leadership: Serve as the ultimate authority on-site, directly responsible for the safe, timely, and quality execution of all construction activities across vast, complex projects.
- Direct Supervisory Command: Directly manage, mentor, and lead the team of Senior Superintendents, Superintendents, and General Forepersons. Hold all field management accountable for project milestones and craft productivity.
- Safety Excellence: Enforce aggressive, zero-incident safety program that exceeds company standards and regulatory requirements. Conduct detailed safety audits and lead all corrective action documentation.
- Trade Coordination Mastery: Plan, schedule, and orchestrate the complex interfaces and workflow sequencing among all trade groups, managing high volumes of people and specialized equipment.
- Labor Relations: Maintain effective communication with local unions and resolve high-level labor and jurisdictional construction problems on-site to maintain project momentum.
- Quality and Compliance: Own the on-site Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QC/QA) program, ensuring all work is executed precisely to specifications, drawings, and regulatory codes before sign-off.
- Logistics & Resource Control: Oversee the procurement, delivery, and staging of all major materials and equipment. Ensure materials, equipment, and inspections are available precisely when needed to support aggressive project schedules.
- Physical Resource Management: Maximize the efficiency of all physical resources, including heavy equipment, specialized tooling, and bulk materials, ensuring logistics support the aggressive master schedule.
- Problem Resolution: Act as the final on-site decision-maker for resolving all immediate field issues, technical roadblocks, coordination conflicts, and material sequencing challenges to maintain flow.
- Risk Mitigation: Take the lead in identifying, assessing, and mitigating on-site project risks related to scheduling, resources, safety, and trade coordination.
- Documentation Support: Ensure the field team provides timely and accurate input for daily reports, progress photos, time tracking, and short-term look-ahead schedules to support the Project Manager and office staff.
- Innovation: Continuously seek ways to optimize field processes and improve project outcomes through innovative construction technologies or methodologies.
Qualifications
To Qualify for the Role, You Must Have:
- High school diploma or equivalent, with at least 20 years of experience working for electrical contractors and/or general construction management companies.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience supervising and leading teams.
- Proven experience leading and successfully completing data center construction projects valued at $100 million or more.
- Possesses expert-level knowledge in electrical system design, electrical engineering or electrical work, construction methods and sequencing, as well as the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications from all relevant disciplines.
Ideal Attributes for Success:
- Advanced understanding of union labor agreements and jurisdictional boundaries in construction.
- Proven success in supervising, motivating, and mentoring a large, diverse workforce.
- Professional safety certification (e.g., OSHA 30, OSHA 500/510).
- Demonstrated ability to drive a fast-paced, high-quality, result-oriented field environment.
