This position works with SMUD's Power Academy to help ensure we are meeting the requirements outlined by DMV, DOT, OSHA, or ANSI. It manages SMUD's Entry Level Commercial Driver's Training (ELDT) program and coordinates our drug and alcohol testing program as required by the Department of Transportation. The position coordinates and performs regulated drug and alcohol screenings. It assists with equipment familiarization training and delivers defensive driving (SMITH Systems), traffic control and flagging, drug and alcohol awareness, entry level commercial driver's, and other training relating to operating SMUD motor vehicles. A Class A Driver's license is required for this position (see minimum qualifications). This position will also be responsible for adherence to compliance regulations specific to the areas of responsibility mentioned above. The position coordinates and works with external vendors to satisfy SMUD's need for services in the areas of commercial driver's training and drug and alcohol collection procedures. It assists in the creation and management of vendor contracts as needed. Purpose
To coordinate and deliver/document equipment in-service and/or familiarization training programs for SMUD personnel that meet regulatory and safety requirements and enhance employee skills, knowledge and career opportunities; work with vendors and subject matter experts to identify training needs for personnel; provide or arrange training for all SMUD equipment operators to insure the qualified operator training requirements outlined in DMV, DOT, OSHA or ANSI regulations are met; manage SMUD's compliance and inspection programs including but not limited to the DOT and DMV testing and compliance programs to insure regulatory compliance.
