Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Director for Center for Professional Development, Innovation, and Research CPDIR at Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Center.

The Director of Center for Professional Development, Innovation, and Research CPDIR, under the direction of the Director of Quality and Standards, is responsible for the creation, planning, development, implementation and evaluation of training and educational programs for all nursing and ancillary department employees at the Behavioral Health Center, in accordance to State Regulations, The Joint Commission recommendations and other identified needs,

The Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Center (with Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus Behavioral Health Services) constitutes a freestanding 100-bed acute care psychiatric facility which provides inpatient and intensive outpatient programs for adults and older adults diagnosed with psychiatric and dual disorders. Qualifications:

  • BSN and matriculating to MSN or higher nursing degree required,
  • MSN or higher nursing degree strongly preferred Registered Nurse with current active license
  • BLS Basic Life Support American Heart Association
  • HCP Certification
  • Two-five years hospital clinical services
  • Preferably 2 to 4 years Inpatient Behavioral Health experience
  • Previous management experience
  • This role requires an exceptionally strong clinical and psychiatric background,
  • Schedule includes occasional evening and weekend hours,

Essential Functions:

  • The Director of CPDIR is responsible for the integration of the principles of adult learning in a clinically- based framework and is responsible and accountable for the ongoing development and application of the principles of a High Reliability Organization
  • Evaluates all continuing education/training programs; adapts programs as necessary as a result of feedback; utilizes accepted evaluations tools with programs; maintains documented education of all education programs,
  • Educational programs typically include, but are not limited to orientation, continuing education and in-services,
  • Assures all team members' education are up-to-date and proper records are maintained,
  • Remediates the team in identified areas of knowledge and skill deficits,
  • Managing clinical students and promoting, cultivating relationships with academic programs to foster positive clinical interactions,
  • Facilitate nursing and social work clinical groups on site and liaise with the academic institution to coordinate onboarding activities for the students,
  • Ensure that Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Center is in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations,
  • Assists in development and implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services,
  • Delegates and prioritizes work assignments according to the individual competence and patient care needs within the service,
  • Ensures visibility and accessibility to all internal and external customers,
  • Performs other duties as assigned,
  • Conduct process, performance and service-delivery consultation and contributions to the organization through ad-hoc or permanently established councils, committees and work group
