About The Team

The Portfolio Implementation team is responsible for the construction, optimization, and management of AQR's portfolios. The team works closely with researchers to bring new systematic investment strategies to life and to continuously improve existing ones.

Portfolio Implementation specialists apply a practical understanding of markets to portfolio-level decisions, ensuring strategies are implemented thoughtfully and efficiently. The team spans a wide range of mandates and markets and operates in a collaborative, intellectually rigorous environment.

The team oversees all portfolio level activities, including the launch of new investment mandates, coordination across senior portfolio managers, client relationship managers and key functional groups. Exceptional candidates will quickly gain significant responsibility to shape key aspects of portfolio construction and implementation.


Your Role

Our team is looking for an exceptionally talented individual to join the Portfolio Implementation team as a specialist for our equity mid-frequency and our event-driven strategies. You will play a key role in managing portfolios, implementing investment strategies, contributing to the development of new investment products. The role offers significant exposure to senior investment professionals and cross-functional teams.

The responsibilities include:


* Portfolio construction, optimization and trade generation:

  • Partner with researchers to design and implement systematic investment strategies trading daily to weekly alpha signals in global equity markets
  • Manage the day-to-day investment process of mid-frequency and event-driven equity strategies, as well as other long-short equity portfolios
  • Refine optimization frameworks to incorporate market dynamics, innovation, custom client objectives and constraints
  • Conduct research to improve portfolio construction effectiveness


* Portfolio analysis:

  • Analyze portfolio exposures, performance drivers and implementation efficiencies
  • Partner with product teams, business development and client administration to deliver portfolio insights


* Enhancing portfolio management:

  • Work with PMs, researchers, developers, and traders to launch new strategies or improve existing ones
  • Contribute to process design and automation projects to scale implementation capabilities


What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering, mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in asset management, with direct exposure to managing mid-frequency and/or event-driven equity strategies
  • Experience with portfolio optimization and systematic portfolio management
  • Technical skills in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, R, or equivalent
  • Strong problem-solving and quantitative reasoning skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The salary range for this role is expected to be $160,000 to $190,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is accurate for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, depending upon factors such as skills, experience, location, or other business and organizational needs. This wage range may also be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
