Job Summary

This position plays a critical role in teaching and supporting new, underprepared, and at-risk students as they transition into college. The Pre-College Coordinator provides direct instruction through the College Prep Orientation program, equipping students with the academic tools, campus knowledge, and support systems necessary for early success. In addition, the coordinator delivers individualized case management to address academic and non-academic barriers, ensuring students are connected to enhanced coursework, campus resources, and ongoing support services. Utilizing professional expertise in academic curriculum, student development, and instructional delivery, the coordinator fosters a sense of belonging and academic readiness that contributes to building a smooth transition into college life and encourages persistence in reaching educational goals.

This is a Grant Funded, Limited Term Employment (LTE) position that is expected to end by June 30, 2026.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully with or without reasonable accommodation.

Instruction & Student Onboarding

  • Teach College Prep Orientation (CPO) for students identified as academically underprepared.

  • Conduct individualized academic intake meetings to assess readiness and guide tailored onboarding.

  • Facilitate structured onboarding using approved college strategies to promote early engagement.

  • Introduce and support students in using key systems (Canvas, Timberwolf Ready, FAFSA, ARC, WIOA, Veterans Benefits, scholarships).

  • Refer students appropriately to Academic Advisors, Access & Accommodations, and other campus resources.

Case Management & Academic Support

  • Apply a case management approach to monitor academic progress and provide individualized outreach.

  • Collaborate with advisors, faculty, and the Academic Resource Center (ARC) to coordinate tutoring, mentoring, and academic support services.

  • Track student progress and resource engagement using Starfish and Canvas analytics.

  • Maintain detailed and confidential records of student interactions and outcomes.

Course & Program Management

  • Design, manage, and update College Prep Orientation course content and materials to align with institutional learning outcomes.

  • Evaluate CPO cohorts each term to assess outcomes and inform instructional adjustments.

  • Coordinate and document grant-related student activities (career assessments, PEPs, learning style inventories, etc.).

  • Ensure accurate cohort placement in collaboration with Admissions and other partners.

Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze student and program data within the Student Information System (SIS) to assess impact and identify service gaps.

  • Produce specialized reports, completion analyses, and data summaries to guide advising and program decisions.

  • Monitor grant-related performance benchmarks and contribute to compliance reporting and narrative development.

  • Support institutional research efforts by collecting, interpreting, and synthesizing data to inform continuous improvement.

Collaboration & Institutional Engagement

  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including Admissions, ARC, and Advising, to enhance student support and communication.

  • Participate in institutional committees and initiatives focused on student retention and success.

  • Contribute to institutional projects, brainstorming sessions, and program development initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications Required

In limited circumstances, NTC may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position.
