Position description

The Academic Coordinator (AC) II position in Global Health will contribute to the Undergraduate (BA, BS, Minor) and Graduate (MA) programs. The AC will work with the Director of GHP, the Program Coordinator, and the current Academic Coordinator on curriculum development, assessing the program, making recommendations for further development, and carrying out the plans for development. Specific duties of this position are as follows:



  • Collaborate with the current AC to oversee the MA Program, helping to recommend improvements and supporting student development of career portfolios and completion of comprehensive exams.
  • Develop courses for both the BA/BS and MA programs, enhancing the topical scope and geographical coverage of our offerings.
  • Work to expand field experience opportunities for students.
  • Take a lead role in community college outreach, encouraging minor to major and double major transitions, and recruiting students to our MA program not only from among our current majors but beyond the UC system from out of state and abroad.
  • Contribute to career development workshops and opportunities for professional and career growth in Global Health for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Contribute to developing relationships with community health agencies and institutions.
  • Research potential opportunities for extramural funding and contribute to proposals for obtaining funds for the Global Health Program.
  • Network with the UC Global Health Institute and Consortium of Universities in Global Health to develop collaborative opportunities.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

A PhD with training in medical anthropology, global health, public health/social epidemiology, or other medical social science/medical humanities.

Preferred qualifications

* Experience in initiating, implementing and developing programs

* Experience in curriculum development and teaching.

* Experience in leadership roles, entrepreneurial experience in system design, and experience as a change-maker.

* Demonstrated interpersonal skills to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
