About the Role
We are looking for a Nonclinical Research Technician to join our Animal Care Team who will be responsible for providing humane care, routine husbandry and sanitization for the Company's research animals including providing health checks, administering medications, and assisting with the program of environmental enrichment in a team focused, energetic environment. This role will be located at one of our facilities in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Responsibilities
- Feed, exercise, and provide environmental enrichment to research animals
- Clean, sanitize and perform general maintenance of research animal areas
- Monitor health status and administer medications
- Perform routine veterinary care under the supervision/direction of a veterinarian
- Collect, create, and maintain well-documented records and quality systems
- Create and modify SOPs
- Effectively carry out multiple assignments while staying on schedule
- Assist in the completion of pre-clinical studies
- Maintain compliance with Biosciences Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), AAALAC standards, IACUC policies, and FDA and USDA regulations
- Participate in Biosciences Technician injury prevention program
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum one year of documented work/volunteer experience caring for animals
- Ability to work independently as well as within a small team
- Ability to work flexible hours/schedules, including change in schedule, overtime, weekends, holidays, and Call-In as required
- Ability to pass physical health baseline screening and have no known animal allergies
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. routinely, and up to 80 lbs. with assistance
Desired Qualifications
- Certification by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science as an Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) or higher
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) by American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a veterinary clinic or research environment where caring for animals was part of daily responsibilities
