Position Summary |
This position is responsible for driving food and beverage sales through both on-site and off-site catering while managing the full lifecycle of sales and events at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel and across campus venues. With primary responsibility for account management, proactive prospecting, lead communication, and seamless event execution, the Catering Sales Professional generates new revenue opportunities, maximizes existing relationships, and strengthens the Georgia Center's market presence. The role demonstrates expertise in the sale, coordination, and delivery of catering services, overseeing every stage from prospecting and proposal development to implementation and follow-up, while collaborating closely with Culinary and Service teams to ensure consistency, quality, and guest satisfaction. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
- Bachelor's degree with significant and relevant experience.
- Food and beverage managerial experience
- Experience in program coordination and event execution.
- Strong communication skills, including both oral (in person and phone) and written, and public presentations.
- Possess organizational and time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while documenting client communication.
- Ability to successfully meet the public and create a favorable impression of the Georgia Center; excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently, with initiative, within departmental guidelines.
- Ability to demonstrate a strong work ethic and support a positive work environment.
- Proficient in use of Windows Office Suite; internet research skills needed.
- Ability to review basic financial reports, invoices, bills, and statements to help determine appropriate space holds and deposit requirements.
- Data management experience.

- Develop sales strategies and actively develop relationships with prospective clients through identification, prospecting, phone calls, visits, and other contacts, thus developing new business opportunities for the Georgia Center. Occasionally provide phone coverage during the primary answerers' absences.
- Represent the Georgia Center during sales blitzes and local shows as we prospect for opportunities to increase our food and beverage business.
- Prospect on-campus clients through sales visits and one-on-one meetings.

- Sell meeting space and services by managing accounts, conducting site inspections, and soliciting/generating business.
