Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) | Orthopaedic Surgery | Inpatient 1

Position Description:

The Medical College of Wisconsin's Department of Surgery is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide specialty medical care within the Surgicalist program. This position will cover Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital in Menomonee Falls, WI and Froedtert West Bend Hospital in West Bend. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.

Position Highlights:

• Managing post-op hospital stay for surgical patients, mostly including daily rounding and discharges
• Service includes Ortho, Neurosurgery, ENT, Optho, and Plastics,
• Work collaboratively with other APPs, Surgeons and Nursing Staff
• Locations: Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital, Froedtert West Bend Hospital
• Reports to APP Supervisor

Schedule:

• 1.0 FTE (40 hour annualized clinical work week) for hospital-based service coverage.
• 12-hour day shifts (week and weekend) covering the medical management of ortho, neurosurgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, and plastics surgical patients including discharge management and coordination.
• Holiday coverage required, on rotational basis.
• Salaried (Exempt)

Preferred Experience:

• Previous APP acute care experience preferred.

Minimum Education:

• Advanced Practice Nurse: Master's Degree or higher in Nursing from a nationally accredited organization.
• Physician Assistant: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA-accredited organization.

Minimum Requirements: *or eligible*

• Advanced Practice Nurse/ Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner
  • Wisconsin RN License
  • Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License
  • Certification Requirements (multi-select which are applicable for position):
    • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • DEA registration
    • Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally accredited professional nursing organization
      • Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP (AGACNP)
      • Family NP (FNP)
• Physician Assistant
  • Wisconsin Physician Assistant License
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • DEA registration
  • Certification Requirements (multi-select which are applicable for position):
    • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
