Job Description

A Brief Overview

Argo Group is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Claims Adjuster to handle indemnity claims in AL, DC, FL, GA, KY, ME, MS, NC, NH, SC, and TN. This office-based role (five days a week) reports to a manager in North Carolina and is central to delivering strong technical claim handling, timely investigations, trend identification, and outstanding results for our clients.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Adjudicate workers' compensation claims of higher technical complexity under technical direction and within defined authority, directly influencing departmental results.

  • Resolve generalized issues that require awareness of a broad range of factors, even if not highly complex.

  • Report claims trends, developments, and insights to claims management and underwriting.

  • Identify loss drivers and trends to help reduce frequency and severity through data analysis and improved claim management.

  • Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly, including interviews with all involved parties.

  • Review claims forms, policies, endorsements, client instructions, and other documentation to determine coverage applicability.

  • Manage claims in litigation and collaborate with counsel as needed.

  • Maintain an organized diary and complete tasks timely to drive optimal financial and resolution outcomes.

  • Establish and review reserves consistent with market standards and Argo's reserving policy.

  • Identify and coordinate internal and external experts to support case resolution.

  • Prepare clear and complete file documentation and reporting.

  • Apply creative, solution-focused approaches to achieve the best financial outcomes.

  • Settle straightforward claims within authority and follow required referral procedures.

  • Negotiate effectively and efficiently using a range of negotiation styles to deliver cost-effective solutions.

  • Prioritize workload, process incoming mail, and manage a high volume of calls and correspondence with various parties.

  • Demonstrate strong commitment to high-quality claim management and customer service.

Core Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education:

    • Bachelor's degree required.

    • In lieu of a degree: Two insurance designations or four additional years of relevant workers' compensation claims experience.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of two years adjudicating workers' compensation claims in one or more of the following jurisdictions: AL, DC, FL, GA, KY, ME, MS, NC, NH, SC, TN.

    • Must hold a claims license in FL, RI, or TX, and be able to quickly obtain any additional required licenses for first-party claims.

    • Must read and write English fluently.

    • Must obtain required claims licenses within 120 days where applicable.

Compensation

The base salary range below applies to hires in the listed geographic areas and varies based on experience. Compensation in other regions may differ based on local market factors. All employees are eligible for an annual bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.

  • Albany & Chicago: $84,500 - $99,500

  • Los Angeles & New York City: $92,000 - $108,400
