Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Per Diem RN (Nurse Researcher) - Holistic Nurse (Integrative Health).

In this role, the successful candidate The Nurse Researcher is an integral member of the Nursing Wellness and Resilience team, reporting directly to the System Senior Director for Nursing Wellness and Resilience. This role is responsible for leading and managing research projects that advance the understanding and promotion of nursing workforce wellbeing, resilience, and organizational health. The Nurse Researcher designs and implements rigorous studies, manages data collection and analysis workflows, and disseminates findings through scholarly writing and presentations. By integrating project management with research expertise, this position ensures timely and effective execution of initiatives aimed at fostering a supportive and evidence-based work environment for nursing staff. The Nurse Researcher also contributes to grant development, mentoring, and the translation of research into departmental practice to support nurse wellness and resilience system-wide.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and coordinate research and scholarly projects related to nursing workforce wellbeing, resilience, and organizational health, ensuring timelines, milestones, and deliverables are met in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including objectives, timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies to effectively advance workforce wellness initiatives.
  • Monitor project progress regularly, prepare comprehensive status reports, and communicate updates to the System Senior Director for Nursing Wellness and Resilience and other key leadership stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership and departmental teams to design, conduct, and evaluate workforce-centered research focused on wellness, resilience, burnout prevention, and organizational wellbeing.
  • Manage data collection and analysis workflows within each project, ensuring adherence to protocols, data quality, and integrity throughout research activities.
  • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to inform study design, intervention strategies, and dissemination efforts tied to workforce wellbeing and resilience.
  • Prepare manuscripts, abstracts, white papers, and reports for submission to peer-reviewed journals, nursing leadership, and professional forums.
  • Present research findings and project outcomes at internal meetings, workshops, and external conferences, tailored for nursing staff and leadership audiences.
  • Support grant writing efforts and the pursuit of external funding by incorporating robust project plans and timelines.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on workplace wellness, nurse resilience, and workforce health research, advising on evidence-based strategies for integration into departmental practice.
  • Proactively identify and resolve project-related challenges, ensuring sustained momentum toward the achievement of research goals.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among interdisciplinary team members to support seamless project execution and knowledge dissemination.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Registered Nurse (RN), licensed in New York State. Masters degree in Nursing, Public Health, Psychology, Organizational Development, or a closely related field. Demonstrated experience in research pertaining to workforce wellbeing, organizational climate, psychological safety, or resilience. Academic writing abilities evidenced by authored reports, publications, or conference abstracts focused on staff or workforce issues. Proficiency with relevant research and data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, NVivo, or similar) and collaboration software. Understanding of IRB processes and human subjects research protection, as it applies to workforce-oriented studies. Strong written and verbal communication skills, suited to both academic and practitioner audiences. Proficient in software applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook..

Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS, Basic Life Support Cert

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior involvement in workforce or organizational research, especially in mental health, wellness, compassion fatigue, burnout, or resilience. Successful grant writing or research funding track record. Demonstrated ability to translate research into practical implementation and policy recommendations. Experience presenting complex findings to both clinical and administrative audiences. Familiarity with healthcare system organizational dynamics and change management.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $60.83 - $81.83 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
