Position Summary Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Coordinator III (RN) to join the GI Medical Oncology team within the Division of Hematology/Oncology. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care and education in an outpatient clinical setting. The Clinical Coordinator will report directly to the Outpatient Oncology Nursing Directors. Responsibilities Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to manage oncology patients throughout consultation, treatment, and recovery phases. Conduct thorough nursing assessments in person and via telephone, within scope of practice. Oversee daily patient care activities in the clinic and infusion center, including lab and test result follow-up, symptom management, and treatment planning. Coordinate with infusion center and inpatient teams to ensure accurate scheduling and continuity of care. Develop and implement patient education initiatives related to medical oncology treatments. Address psychosocial concerns of patients and caregivers, providing compassionate, evidence-based support. Communicate patient needs to the care team in a timely and clinically appropriate manner. Facilitate prior authorizations and provide treatment calendars to patients. Integrate cultural sensitivity and diversity into nursing practice. Actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure continuity of care. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience, plus four years of related clinical experience. Current New York State RN license and BLS certification. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced clinical environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in medical oncology or bone marrow transplant (BMT) a plus. Other Requirements Medical clearance and participation in the medical surveillance program. Direct patient contact and/or interaction with human research subjects. Use of N-95 respirator as needed. Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
