Job Title: Materials Process Manager

Operating Company: Environmental Solutions Group - Heil Environmental

Location: Fort Payne, AL

Reports to: Director, Production Control and Logistics

Department: Materials/Supply Chain

Shift: 1st shift

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide planning, direction and supervision within assigned area and coordinate processes that impact material deliveries, data integrity, and other supply chain processes. Possess great communication, verbal, written and management skills. Lead 3-5 Supervisors, Team Leaders, and up to 50 Team Members in a multi-shift, high-mix, configured-to-order production environment. Have sound knowledge of problem-solving methods, lean manufacturing, just-in-time delivery principles, and capacity requirements planning (CRP). View all value streams from a broad perspective, understand key material constraints, identify critical process issues, and use the appropriate suite of continuous improvement tools to move towards the ideal state.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Own and drive Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost performance and develop a Continuous Improvement culture using Lean thinking in concert with the strategic direction of the business.
  • Champion a culture of "Team Members own Safety".
  • Train and execute root cause problem solving with supervisors and cross-functional support team.
  • Coordinate, Maintain, Communicate, and drive the schedule to ensure delivery of materials to production cells on time.
  • Schedule management throughout the day to maintain an accurate schedule to clearly communicate the status of each unit.
  • Coordinate the schedule, plan and initial staging of materials/kits to all vital areas of production.
  • Identify and communicate constraints in the production flow and work with Production Control team to discuss possible solutions.
  • Work closely with Human Resources to determine and maintain appropriate staffing levels to achieve production goals.
  • Clearly communicate vision and improvement plans to Team Members.
  • Guide and mentor supervisors to ensure the team is properly trained, resourced, and managed to attain strategic objectives.
  • Instill and maintain a positive can-do team atmosphere; hold regular team meetings and coordinate support services needed outside the team.
  • Work with cross functional teams to identify upcoming orders and subsequent component requirements, root cause any purchase order/invoicing issues. Must be able to make decisions on and implement solutions with all parties both internally and externally.
  • Report out materials status daily on any purchasing related issue impacting production and drive corrective action and resolution of purchasing issues.
  • Conduct regular safety, lean, and 5S inspections and audits.
  • Attendance at work, including presence at work during regular working hours or another schedule as may be assigned by the department manager, is essential.
  • Travel up to 10% is required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree is requiredor equivalent experience, Engineering Degree preferred. MBA a plus.
  • 5 plus years' experience in a manufacturing environment, with 3 plus years in supervision.
  • 5 years' experience in an Engineered to Order Business.
  • Possess skills in mapping processes, time studies, routings, and material flow.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word are a must.
  • Must be team oriented and a self-starter.
  • Solid general management, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to correspond orally and in writing.Excellent communication skills necessary.
  • Ability to analyze issues and situations systematically.
  • Ability to recommend practical solutions using innovation, good judgment, creativity,and strategic thinking.
  • Problem solving skills, ability to multi-task, and having a sense of urgency.
  • Project engineering or project management leadership skills.

Applies a sense of urgency to resolve problems or creates opportunities that will increase productivity and create value. Shares best practices with other employees across the business.

Accountability: Accepts responsibility and accessibility for both the strategic planning and the successful implementation of all projects, programs, and duties as outlined in this job description. Advises supervisor of concerns, problems, and progress of work in a timely manner.
