Job Summary

The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, providing professional and compassionate service in a clinical or office setting. This role involves drawing quality blood samples, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and ensuring all procedures follow established safety and accuracy standards. The PSR II fosters an atmosphere of trust while maintaining confidentiality, precision, and patient comfort. Depending on business needs, this position may be assigned to a physician's office, patient service center, or other designated locations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform daily specimen collection and processing duties accurately and on schedule under the direction of the area supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment.
  • Collect and process forensic and clinical specimens following established protocols.
  • Verify patient identification, demographic information, and specimen labeling, ensuring all samples are correctly documented in the patient's presence.
  • Maintain required records and documentation in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Deliver exceptional service and uphold organizational values, professionalism, and patient confidentiality.
  • Support a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, and colleagues.


Job Requirements

  • Proven ability to produce quality, error-free work in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed.
  • Strong decision-making skills and sound judgment within established procedures.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record (if applicable).
  • Ability to travel and work at multiple locations, sometimes with minimal notice.
  • Effective multitasking and organizational skills in high-volume environments.
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to customer service excellence.
  • Adherence to company policies, dress code, and health and safety standards.


Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical training as a medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).


Work Experience

  • Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • At least two years of experience in a Patient Service Center preferred.
  • Prior experience in customer service, retail, or similar service-oriented environments preferred.
  • Keyboarding and data entry experience required.


Additional Job Details (COVID, Commute, Attendance, etc.)

  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required for this position.
  • This position is not eligible for remote work and follows a day shift schedule, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (CST).
  • Work is located in Alabama; candidates must reside within a 20-25 minute commute of the worksite.
  • Reliable personal transportation is required (public or rideshare options such as bus or Uber are not considered reliable for this role).
  • Candidates must be punctual and able to work all scheduled hours; excessive absenteeism or tardiness may result in termination.
  • Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
  • Rate of pay is based on years of directly related experience as documented in the resume (overlapping roles are not counted twice).
  • Please note that multiple clients may share the same building.
