Job Summary
The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the first point of contact for patients, representing the organization with professionalism, empathy, and attention to detail. This role is responsible for performing accurate and high-quality blood draws, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and maintaining strict adherence to safety, accuracy, and confidentiality standards. The PSR I fosters a supportive environment where patients feel informed and comfortable throughout the collection process while promoting process excellence and patient satisfaction under the supervision of the area supervisor.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform daily specimen collection and processing activities accurately and on schedule under the direction of the area supervisor.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment in compliance with all infection control and safety protocols.
- Collect both forensic and clinical specimens following established practices and procedures.
- Verify patient identification, demographics, and labeling to ensure accurate documentation.
- Maintain required records and documentation in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Provide professional, courteous service to all patients, clients, and coworkers.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and promote a positive image of the organization.
- Support training, process improvement, and quality initiatives as directed.
Job Requirements
- Ability to perform accurate, high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed.
- Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented with a focus on service excellence.
- Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
Work Experience
- Minimum of six months of phlebotomy experience required; one or more years preferred.
- Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service setting preferred.
- Keyboarding and data entry experience required.

- Work schedule (Eastern Time):
- Sunday: Off
- Monday: Off
- Tuesday: 6:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (1-hour lunch)
- Wednesday: 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
- Thursday: 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
- Friday: 6:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (1-hour lunch)
- Saturday: 7:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at Lakewood Ranch (every Saturday)
- Candidates must have reliable personal transportation; public or rideshare options (e.g., bus, Uber) are not considered reliable for this role.
- Candidates must reside within a 20-25 minute commute of the assigned worksite.
- Consistent attendance and punctuality are required. Excessive tardiness or absenteeism may result in termination.
- Rate of pay is based on years of directly related experience as documented on the resume (overlapping roles are not counted twice).
- Candidates must list home city and commute time on their resume for consideration.
