Job Summary

The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the first point of contact for patients, representing the organization with professionalism, empathy, and attention to detail. This role is responsible for performing accurate and high-quality blood draws, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and maintaining strict adherence to safety, accuracy, and confidentiality standards. The PSR I fosters a supportive environment where patients feel informed and comfortable throughout the collection process while promoting process excellence and patient satisfaction under the supervision of the area supervisor.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform daily specimen collection and processing activities accurately and on schedule under the direction of the area supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment in compliance with all infection control and safety protocols.
  • Collect both forensic and clinical specimens following established practices and procedures.
  • Verify patient identification, demographics, and labeling to ensure accurate documentation.
  • Maintain required records and documentation in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Provide professional, courteous service to all patients, clients, and coworkers.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and promote a positive image of the organization.
  • Support training, process improvement, and quality initiatives as directed.


Job Requirements

  • Ability to perform accurate, high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed.
  • Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented with a focus on service excellence.
  • Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry.


Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).


Work Experience

  • Minimum of six months of phlebotomy experience required; one or more years preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service setting preferred.
  • Keyboarding and data entry experience required.

  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required for this position.
  • This position is not eligible for remote work.
  • Work schedule (Eastern Time):

    • Sunday: Off
    • Monday: Off
    • Tuesday: 6:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (1-hour lunch)
    • Wednesday: 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
    • Thursday: 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
    • Friday: 6:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (1-hour lunch)
    • Saturday: 7:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at Lakewood Ranch (every Saturday)


  • Candidates must have reliable personal transportation; public or rideshare options (e.g., bus, Uber) are not considered reliable for this role.
  • Candidates must reside within a 20-25 minute commute of the assigned worksite.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality are required. Excessive tardiness or absenteeism may result in termination.
  • Rate of pay is based on years of directly related experience as documented on the resume (overlapping roles are not counted twice).
  • Candidates must list home city and commute time on their resume for consideration.
