Job Summary

The Test Technician supports product development, sustainment, and certification activities by performing mechanical and electrical testing for engineering projects. This position conducts tests according to applicable standards, assists in the assembly of test setups, and ensures the accuracy and integrity of test data. The role also includes maintaining laboratory equipment, tracking test requests and samples, and supporting EHS and 5S initiatives to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct electrical and mechanical tests in accordance with UL, CSA, IEC, and NEMA standards for electrical distribution products.
  • Record accurate test data on standardized forms and submit results to project engineers in a timely manner.
  • Perform pre- and post-test calibrations, dielectric and thermal testing, circuit configuration testing, and vibration testing.
  • Assist in repairing, maintaining, and tracking test fixtures to meet engineering department needs.
  • Maintain and contribute to a clean, organized, and efficient lab environment in accordance with 5S principles.
  • Support and adhere to all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to ensure testing meets development and sustaining project deadlines.
  • Share technical knowledge with team members to strengthen overall lab capability and consistency.
  • Support the development and enforcement of laboratory safety and operational procedures.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining testing accuracy and efficiency.
  • Complete additional assignments or tasks as directed by the manager.


Job Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Technology from an accredited institution required.
  • 1-3 years of related technical experience required.
  • Strong aptitude in electronics, mechanics, electro-mechanics, and software systems.
  • Ability to perform hands-on testing and equipment assembly safely and efficiently.
  • Familiarity with testing according to UL, CSA, IEC, and NEMA standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and recordkeeping skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in using computers for test documentation, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience working in a testing laboratory or engineering support environment preferred.
