SHIFT: Day (United States of America)A Brief Overview Assume responsibility for an on-going, innovative research project as a Postdoctoral Fellow at CHOP. Our postdoc experience will broaden your skillset, scientific background, and research capabilities. Dr. Stewart Anderson has a postdoctoral fellowship in live imaging of synaptic activity using human stem cell-derived neurons. CHOP's Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion About the Laboratory We are using human stem cell derived excitatory and inhibitory neurons, astrocytes, microglia, and neurovascular-like cells in mono-and mixed carpet cultures, as well as organoid differentiations, as tools for the study of gene-gene and gene-environment interactions in neuropsychiatric disease. Illnesses of particular interest include schizophrenia and autism, with emphasis on mitochondrial influences on symptom penetrance and treatment. For this position the focus is on live imaging of presynaptic vesicle cycling and glutamate release in human stem cell derived neurons from patients with autism and schizophrenia. To be considered applicants must have substantial experience in conducting whole cell electrophysiological recordings and/or live imaging of neuronal activity. Experience in human stem cell culture, manipulation, and differentiation is preferred but not required. Responsibilities
