Position Overview

We have a Unique opportunity for an experienced lender to join our team as our new Chief Commercial Officer to drive the growth of our commercial lending portfolio. Reporting to our Chief Lending Officer, this leader will be charged with advancing our strategy, building team capabilities, expanding our reach and growing our loan portfolio in alignment with the overall strategic direction of the Bank. This leader will drive the behaviors and build relationships needed to exceed deposit growth goals. Responsible for setting and achieving loan growth goals which are aligned with the overall Bank goals and sound lending practices.

Primary Accountabilities
  • In partnership with the Chief Lending Officer, advance our commercial lending and cash management business lines to ensure we are expanding our reach and growing our loan portfolio in alignment with the overall strategic direction of the Bank.
  • Lead the Commercial Lending and Cash Management team to ensure lending and deposit goals and customer service standards are continually achieved, and department operations are performed in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and efficiency.
  • Identify and manage a strong diverse pipeline of commercial lending relationships and opportunities.
  • Analyse proposed loans for credit worthiness, risk and prudent structuring through detailed analysis of all required financial information, integrating relevant external factors such as management, market, industry and economic climate into the decision-making process.
  • Approve loans and addresses structuring issues within limits of lending authorities established within the Bank's loan policy.
  • Prepare and review pre and post-closing commercial loan documentation to ensure timely and accurate receipt of credit and all other required documentation.
  • Monitor performance of assigned commercial loan portfolio. Maintain and participate in ongoing program of credit administration including customer visitations, covenant reviews, dictation, and file maintenance to ensure adherence to Bank's loan policies and procedures supporting a sound credit administration function.
  • Keep abreast of ongoing developments in the fields of finance, banking in general, and commercial lending in particular.
  • Partner with other lending functions within the bank to share leads, industry contacts, networking opportunities in order to help meet growth initiatives.
  • Participate in banking and civic organizations to promote the Bank's image and visibility within the community.

Knowledge, Skills, Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree or work experience equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 13 years in the commercial lending industry with at least 5 years of experience leading a commercial lending function.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal lending laws and regulations, Bank policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain business relationships as well as influence people in their opinions, attitudes, or judgments about ideas or things; to motivate, convince, or negotiate.
  • Ability to perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, or unusual situations.
  • Ability to maintain relationships that facilitate task accomplishment; to cooperate and resolve conflicts; to recognize needs and be sensitive to others; to support the goals and objectives of all bank departments.
  • Ability to systematically identify and define problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement cost effective solutions.
  • Must possess valid drivers license and be able to travel to various sites.
