NURSE EDUCATOR

Position Summary: The Nursing Educator is responsible for evaluating, reviewing, designing and implementing hospital educational events related to staff training. Works closely with the CNO/ADON to review current education and training needs to ensure evidence-based best practices are followed. Interacts with nursing staff and preceptors to ensure seamless orientations/document completion. Maintains knowledge of special patient populations and knowledge of state, federal, and regulatory requirements. Collects and reports data related to training.

Knowledge of Joint Commission Accreditation Standards for Behavioral Health

1. Knowledge and demonstrates utilization of crisis intervention techniques.

2. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Zoom

3. Effective communication with patients, staff, and peers.

4. Knowledge of West Virginia State legislation related to behavioral health and PRTF.

5. Demonstrates tact, resourcefulness, patience, and dedication.

6. Knowledge of CMS and Federal Code Regulations for Behavioral Health and Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF).

7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet hospital/corporate deadlines.

River Park Hospital operates a total of 187 mental health beds located on 2 campuses. Our main hospital campus is a 165-bed licensed mental health facility serving the needs of patients of all ages. Our second campus is Barboursville School housing a 22-bed PRTF licensed facility located on 8 acres in the center of beautiful Barboursville Park. Our mission is to assist patients in returning to their lives with the highest level of mental health. We offer a full spectrum of programs, which include acute inpatient services for older children, adolescents, adults and older adults, along with a variety of psychiatric residential programs for both children and adolescents.

Our clinical team is comprised of psychiatrists, medical physicians, psychologists, nurses, therapists, case managers/social workers, therapeutic recreational therapists and mental health technicians. Our staff is dedicated to providing compassionate and quality care for every River Park Hospital patient and their family.
